BLUESTAR, A LEADER IN APPLIANCE COLOR AND CUSTOMIZATION, INTRODUCES DIMENSION TO KITCHEN COOKING EQUIPMENT WITH NEW TEXTURES LINE

BlueStar Cooking(Reading, PA – February 12, 2013 /PRNewswire) – BlueStar™, the manufacturer of professional cooking equipment for the home – available in an unparalleled palette of colors and metallic finishes – takes color into another dimension with a new line of 10 textured paints and finishes that add depth and fresh appeal to kitchen appliances.  With the addition of the Textures line, BlueStar is now available in over 750 colors and finishes, offering a new level of customization options for its discerning customers.

“A big trend we’ve been seeing in recent years is related to texturing – in flooring, wallpaper, furniture and textiles.  People want to be able to see the texture as well as feel it,” says Eliza Sheffield, vice president, Marketing, BlueStar.  ”We cook with all our senses – taste, touch, sight – so why not extend these sensations to the room’s design, from the floor to the cabinets to kitchen appliances?”

Beyond Stainless Steel

BlueStar Cooking ColorsBlueStar has been a leader in color customization for nearly a decade, offering its cooking equipment in over 190 standard colors as well as custom colors.  Now, this appliance innovator offers a new alternative to the typical stainless steel or white finish to help people make a unique statement in their kitchens.  The new Textures collection includes three textures - River, Silver Vein, Mini Texture - for each of the existing 190 colors, plus seven unique metal textures, from grey to copper and even gold to expose the sparkle and underlying metallic tones of colored paints.  The BlueStar line is available in over 750 color and finish options.

“Texture is a design element which may be overlooked when decorating the kitchen, but it has the ability to add a novel dimension to the room’s interior,” says Sheffield.  ”Consumers are looking for new ideas to help make their kitchens more personalized, so having a unique option like Textures is truly exciting.”

“Good design should electrify all the senses…especially in the kitchen.  When you enter a room, you should be inspired visually, transcended by aromas and tastes, jazzed by the sound and comforted by textures,” says Architectural Desiger Kim Lewis.  Lewis’ work ranges from designs for celebrities’ homes to pro bono assignments for Touch A Life Foundation in West Africa, to lead designer for the popular TV show, ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition”.

A fan of tactile visuals, Lewis designed a hammered copper back splash for singer/songwriter Jewel’s kitchen – this texture perfectly complemented the ‘Homestead Hip’ vibe of the ranch.  For a rustic, cozy look, Lewis also loves the BlueStar “Exterior Copper Vein” texture for a kitchen range or for a more subtle dimension, Lewis suggests the new “River” Texture.

Perfect Blend of Design and Performance

“Families are cooking more at home and my residential clients are looking for kitchen products that are more professional grade yet are designed to make an impact in the room.  House floor plans are keeping the kitchen more open to the living spaces, so quality and style count more for appliances now,” says Lewis.

BlueStar boasts a 130-year-heritage of marrying form and function.  Handcrafted in Reading, Pennsylvania, BlueStar cooking equipment is manufactured to provide the home chef with a cooking experience that only can be matched by a restaurant kitchen environment.  BlueStar professional appliances provide up to 22,000 BTUs of cooking power for consistent, controlled heat and shorter cooking times.  And for delicate soups and sauces, no stove matches BlueStar’s gentile 130 degree simmer burner.  An interactive website tool, “Build Your Own BlueStar”, allows consumers to customize a new BlueStar range – from the intensity of the burners to the color of the knobs and the range itself – before buying.  For more information, visit www.bluestarcooking.com

Your Checklist For A Modern Pantry

A modern pantry has to be more than just a closet where you store dry food for your family. There are now many more options for food than there used to be, and there are technologies that can make your storage space more useful than it has ever been before. Neglecting these things would keep you from experiencing all that modern society has to offer. Below are a few things that you need to make sure that you have in your pantry if you want it to be updated and useful.

A Dehumidifier

If your food gets wet, it can mold, rot, and decay. Things like bread and other grain-based products are especially susceptible to this type of deterioration. However, many people do not realize that the same thing can happen if your pantry is wet and damp, even if there is not a direct leak. A dehumidifier can keep the air as dry as possible. This can help your food to last longer. It can improve health conditions and ensure that people do not get food poisoning. This one simple step will preserve your stored food, saving you money in the long run because you will not have to replace items until they are consumed.

It is important to note that a dehumidifier should especially be used if your pantry is in the basement. Below-ground spaces tend to hold a lot more moisture than above-ground spaces. Since basements are convenient for storage, a dehumidifier is the perfect way to make your basement incredibly useful.

Shelving Units

Even if your pantry has some built-in shelves, you should not assume that it is as effective as it can be. You may be able to get shelving units with shelves that are closer together than the built-in ones, for instance, allowing you to fit more food in the same amount of space. You could also look for shelves that are deeper than the ones you have currently, making effective use of the whole pantry.

Create Space for Small Appliances

Finally, you may want to think about using your pantry to store some of your smaller appliances that you do not use very often. This is the perfect place for blenders, electric mixers, and the like. When setting up your new shelving units, adjust them so that the lowest shelves are taller than the upper ones. You can then use those low shelves to organize the many small appliances that fill modern kitchens, reducing clutter.

Updating Your Pantry Today

Your old pantry is a good start, but it needs some help to be transformed into a modern space. Use the tips listed above to make easy renovations and changes in your home. You can alter the storage space that you have so that it best fulfills your needs.

5 Kitchen Design Trends to Watch for in 2013

With the new year upon us, it’s time to think about making changes in ourselves and the world we live in. There’s no better place to start than with our living spaces, and that means paying attention to the shifts in design taking place both now and over the long term.

When it comes to interior styles in the kitchen, there are a few trends that have earned some longevity: eco-friendly materials, a minimalist aesthetic, and open floor plans aren’t going away anytime soon. But in 2013, look for these kitchen styles working their way into current design trends.

caption

Professional kitchen design trends in 2013 include natural tones, smart storage, and island or peninsula designs as you can see in the above kitchen remodel by Case Design/Remodeling Birmingham.

  1. Increased usefulness. Making our living spaces more livable won’t be new in 2013, but we’ll definitely see this trend continue to grow. In the kitchen it’s of utmost importance for homeowners to accommodate the range of activities taking place in the epicenter of the home. Simple but big changes can really streamline your kitchen use, such as adding a kitchen island, which can literally double the workspace, cabinet storage, and seating options in smaller kitchens.
  2. Antique and traditional fixtures. Kitchens will start to move away from the clean lines and lack of adornment that’s found in modern design. Intricate fixtures offer a way to add a touch of traditional style to an unembellished space, and we’ll be seeing more old-fashioned looking fixtures doubling as design accents in kitchens and bathrooms.
  3. Deep blues and light neutrals. Color trends are moving away from bright, bold hues and neons in favor of universal colors and neutral tones that brighten a space without dominating it. In the kitchen, look for deep blues tones against light yellows and creamy whites that keep the kitchen looking clean and bright while still creating a rich color scheme.
  4. Durable countertops. Natural stone countertops look beautiful, but man-made knockoffs are impervious to damage and looking more like the real thing every day. Inline with increasing usefulness, homeowners are seeking out countertops that are either completely durable and maintenance free or already weathered looking at the time they’re installed.
  5. Simplicity and downsizing. This is another ongoing trend that will continue in 2013 and is directly reflected in our homes and the way we live. More people are living more simply, in smaller spaces, and in multi-family or multi-generational homes. In the kitchen we see this need to simply reflected in open spaces, natural lighting, and clutter-free countertops. A kitchen that contains a plethora of items and keeps them all hidden away seems to create peace of mind and a peaceful living space.

Seven bizarre-looking kitchens that will shock you

We use them to store food, cook food, serve food and wash up so having an aesthetically-pleasing kitchen design is probably a good idea considering how much time we can spend in there.

Surprisingly, however, not everyone is content with having an average run-of-the-mill setup when it comes to developing the theme of a kitchen.

Instead, there are mavericks out there who like to push the boundaries when it comes to interior design! Here are a number of examples that showcase some of the more bizarre kitchen designs out there – just what were they thinking!?

Arabian-style

Arabian KitchenWhat’s the first word that comes to mind about this kitchen? Expensive. This Arabian-inspired design exudes luxury and glamour. You simply wouldn’t want to get it dirty, would you!?

Boring Beige

Beige KitchenIn contrast to the gold-plated kitchen above, the following design looks, well, just plain boring! The splattering of beige really doesn’t do the room justice – although, the selection of sharp knives on display is slightly worrying to say the least!

This might get dark

Black and Red KitchenFrom beige to black. Could you imagine this kitchen at night? You wouldn’t be able to see a thing. On the positive side (there aren’t many), at least the walls offer some contrast with their plain white display. Who’d want a kitchen like this? Someone does!

Seriously, who lives in a home likes this?

Coffin KitchenWhen it comes to bizarre kitchens, nothing can quite compare to this effort from a seemingly disturbed individual! All of the units used in this kitchen are shaped like coffins. Who could be so sick to sort out such a fetish!? Your guess is as good as ours.

A glimpse into the future?

Green KitchenIf this design is meant to be a futuristic twist on the conventional kitchen look then we’re not looking forward to cooking in the future! This green and white jagged design attempts to be different but only serves to confuse and disorientate.

Too much yellow?

Yellow KitchenAnother bold selection of colour on offer in this next kitchen design –this time it’s an almost sickly splash of buttery yellow. Not only is the overpowering yellow a little hard to bear, but the flowery wallpaper doesn’t add much taste either!

French inspiration

French KitchenApparently, the owners of this kitchen got their inspiration for this kitchen design from a trip to France. It certainly seems like they became a little obsessed with the architecture of the nation with the kitchen units denoting buildings and the walls being used as a backdrop.

What Appliances are in Batman’s Kitchen?

One of Life’s Important Appliance QuestionsBats flying around Wayne Manor

Have you ever thought about it? What appliances would be in Batman’s kitchen?

No?

This is a burning question of our time, people!

I mean, what appliances would be in Batman’s kitchen? It carries great weight and the answer has wide-ranging ramifications.

Now, let’s get something straight. I’m not talking Bruce Wayne’s kitchen. The kitchen in Wayne manor probably looks like some restaurant kitchen with tons of equipment real people can’t afford or don’t need.

I’m talking about Batman’s kitchen, one in the Bat Cave. What? You didn’t know there was a kitchen in the Bat Cave?

Well, honestly, I don’t know if there’s a kitchen in the Bat Cave or not. But, it stands to reason. I mean, Alfred can’t possibly keep bringing cups of tea all the way down there through all those long nights. Alfred is a loyal servant to be sure, but a man of his age needs to sleep the night through now and then.

Also, when Batman is chilling out catching a game on those huge monitors, he needs a place to grab a snack.

So, what kind of appliances would he have? Conjecture has run rampant and a number of theories have emerged.

The Refrigerator Only Option

GE French-door RefrigeratorThere’s a theory he’d only have a fridge down there. I can understand the logic. But, it wouldn’t just be a mini-fridge. I mean, come on. The guy’s a billionaire.

Billionaires always go big. I’m thinking French-door refrigerator all the way.

But, what kind of finish? Stainless Steel is right out. Too cheery. Of course, black would be a popular choice and is most likely it. But, maybe, he’s going for hip and chose GE’s new Slate.

My only problem with this theory is there is no microwave. Although, this could be explained because Batman eats healthy and being a billionaire he doesn’t have to eat leftovers.

The Frozen Pizza Option

What if Batman doesn’t eat healthy all the time? What if on those lazy Sunday afternoons, he indulges a bit?

If so, that leads rise to the frozen pizza theory. For this, the kitchen would need not only a refrigerator but a range as well.

I know, I know. I can hear the objection already.  A billionaire wouldn’t have to make his own frozen pizza. True, he wouldn’t have to. But, if a guy GE Black Rangewants a bit of self-respect he has to make his own frozen pizza occasionally.

Yes, even if he’s Batman.

So, what kind of range? He wouldn’t need a double oven. It’s not like he’s raising a family in the Bat Cave or anything. And I don’t imagine Batman’s a hardcore baking enthusiast.

An electric range seems like a good option, but a gas range seems a bit more likely. It’s just a guess, but I‘m thinking Wayne Manor is hooked up with natural gas lines.

What about induction? Now, that’d be a stylist choice. Yeah, yeah. He wouldn’t really use the stovetop, but induction ovens are sleek and usually black. Kind of right up Batman’s alley, don’t you think?

Enough of that. Since we’re talking about cooking frozen pizzas, the real choice is between conventional and convection. I’m going with convection, not only does it cook faster but the crust and the cheese will be more evenly done.

As far as the finish, black or Slate are still the best bets.

The Bat Cave as Man Cave Option

Beverage CoolerThis theory has the Bat Cave outfitted with a bar instead of a more traditional kitchen. I’m not sure about this one at all.

Now, there’s no denying that the Bat Cave is the first and best man cave. But, a bar? I don’t think Batman drinks. I mean, seriously, you have to keep your edge when you’re Batman.

That’s not to say that he wouldn’t have beverage coolers close at hand. He could keep them stocked with healthy choices, maybe some V8 or green tea. If he allows for a little indulgence, I could see beverage coolers being stocked with a hearty root beer.

Still, the idea of a bar is intriguing. An actual bar would be kind of cool. It could give Alfred a place to store items or to prepare drinks or small meals when Batman is really busy.

The Full Kitchen Option

GE Black DishwasherThen, of course, there’s the full kitchen option. This school of thought says, heck, he’s a billionaire so why not have a full kitchen whether he ever uses it or not?

This has some credence, but I’m not sure. Let’s run with it, though.

He’d have the refrigerator, the range and beverage coolers we’ve already talked about. He’d just add a microwave, dishwasher and cabinets.

All the appliances would have to match, so we’re back to black or GE’s Slate. Alfred would probably want Stainless Steel and for a real home, it’s great. But this is the Bat Cave, we’re talking about.

If this theory is correct, I’d say the full kitchen is more for Alfred than Batman. It would be like an auxiliary kitchen, so he doesn’t have to keep riding up and down in some secret elevator.

This would actually be very practical. Everything would be close at hand for our faithful butler. Batman comes in after a hard day of crime fighting and Alfred has dinner waiting.

So Which is It?

Personally, I lean toward the Frozen Pizza theory with only a refrigerator and range.

I’d go with French-door on the fridge. A single convection oven with induction is my choice for the range. And I’m thinking he’d go with a black finish. Though, Slate is tempting.

But the world may never know…

Any Thoughts?

Your Own Kitchen

If you need help outfitting your own kitchen, find all your high-quality appliances and cabinetry at Goedeker’s.

What does your kitchen say about you?

Believe it or not, just as a person’s shoes can tell you a little about them, the appliances and décor you have in your kitchen can say a lot about your personality and/or lifestyle. Don’t believe me? Just take a look at the list below, I’m sure you’ll fall into one of those categories.

If your kitchen if full of stainless steel appliances with LED displays, it’s pretty safe to say you like to stay up to date on technology. You probably have LED flat screens all around your home as well as the latest MacBooks, IPads and iPhones. You like innovative technology and aren’t afraid to show it. There’s certainly nothing wrong with that.

If your kitchen is filled with apple or rooster décor and your appliances are less complicated and white like this Frigidaire FFTR1513LW, you’re probably more of a traditionalist. You don’t need style to be satisfied. You only care about the necessities in life. You don’t need you refrigerator to give you the time or even pour your water for you. You can manage those tasks yourself. As long as the appliance is clean and does its job, you’re fine with it.

You’ve decorated with the little bistro chef and all of your appliances are black. You’re more up-to-date than the apple/rooster people but not as advanced as Mr. Stainless Steel. Nevertheless, your appliances do their job and maybe even more. You may have a side-by-side refrigerator but the bottom freezer  is a little out of your league.

No matter what your style, Goedeker’s has kitchen appliances to fit every style and budget. Shop with us today for one of the largest selections of top quality appliances on the net. As always, our customers enjoy free shipping on orders over $999.

The Kitchen of the Future

KitchenThe technology explosion in the early 20th century made almost everyone wonder what possibilities the future would hold.

Theories ranged from wild benefits to nightmare scenarios, but mostly the outlook was optimistic.

A common thread in this thinking was leisure. Technology was supposed to free us from the mundane and allow us to live almost carefree lives.

One concept that seemed to fascinate more than others was the “Kitchen of the Future.”

The 1950s and 60s proved to be fertile ground for these highly-speculative kitchens. It started innocently enough.

The end of World War II, the baby boom, and unprecedented levels of prosperity were reshaping our society at a pace never before seen.
